Plantago lanceolata (Plantain)

There are about 200 species in the Plantago genus. The three most common varieties are broadleaf plantain (Plantago major), Rugel�s plantain (Plantago rugelii), and ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata). Other names for Plantago lanceolata are narrow-leaf plantain, English plantain, lamb�s tongue, or buckhorn. It is a common weed. Plantago means �sole of the foot� in Latin because the leaves grow near to ground level. and lanceolata means �lance� in Latin.
