Marrubium vulgare (White horehound)

Horehound gets its name from the Old English word horhoune, which means hoary (grayish-white). The genus name, Marrubium, is derived from two Hebrew terms, mar meaning bitter and rob meaning much. Marrubium vulgare is a well-known domestic remedy for coughs and colds. Its often made into a syrup or candy to disguise its very bitter flavour. As a bitter, it increases the appetite and supports the digestive system.
