Hierochloe odorata (Sweetgrass)

Hieros means �holy� and chlo means �grass� in Greek while odorata means �fragrant�. An important herb for Native Americans, this fragrant holy grass is woven into baskets and the braided dried stems are used for incense and smudges. Sweetgrass is used to stop vaginal bleeding and to expel afterbirth.
