Convallaria majalis (Lily of the valley)

Convallis means �valley� in Latin and majalis means month of may. As the name suggests they bloom during May and June. This beautiful perennial with characteristic white bell-shaped flowers have long been used for heart complaints. It is a safer substitute to Digitalis but should still only be used by qualified practitioners.
